Maymont
WAYFINDING SIGNAGE
A comprehensive wayfinding master plan was developed for Maymont to enhance clarity, accessibility, and the overall visitor experience across its 100-acre public park. The program establishes clear points of arrival at the estate’s primary entrances, introducing welcome plazas that orient guests and provide an overview of Maymont’s history and amenities. Directional and interpretive signage throughout the grounds guides visitors seamlessly between destinations—including the mansion, gardens, nature center, and farm—while reinforcing a cohesive identity for the park.
Project completed at a previous firm.
The signage system was designed to be intuitive, elegant, and sensitive to Maymont’s historic landscape. The sculptural sign form draws inspiration from Maymont’s oval swan logo, translating the brand mark into a distinctive, leaf-like silhouette that feels both refined and organic within the gardens. A restrained material palette and muted colors allow the natural beauty of the estate to remain at the forefront, while a clear hierarchy of directional nodes and interpretive panels provides clarity at key decision points. The result is a cohesive system that enhances orientation without competing with the surrounding environment.
