MULTIPLE PERMANENT EXHIBITS
Since 2022, Explorers Studio has partnered with the Virginia Holocaust Museum (VHM) on the phased redesign of multiple permanent gallery spaces, supporting the museum’s long-term vision to deepen understanding while improving accessibility and visitor engagement. Working within an existing and emotionally powerful institution, our role has been to thoughtfully reframe complex historical content through clear visual storytelling and human-centered design.
Across the galleries, our approach prioritizes simplification without loss of meaning—distilling dense historical narratives into legible, layered experiences that allow visitors to orient themselves while engaging more deeply with individual stories. Survivor voices anchor each space, with firsthand accounts, artifacts, and imagery elevated as primary storytellers rather than supporting elements. Environmental graphics, spatial sequencing, and interpretive hierarchy work together to guide visitors through difficult subject matter with clarity, dignity, and intention.
